Technics SL-1200, the classic. Great price, great quality. Upgraded it a little with some new cables and plugs, put a nice Ortofon 2M blue element on it and we can playa da sweeeeet records again for many years to come

I have a question relating to turntables - after playing a record last night, I noticed after I picked it up that there was some type of scratch or scuff mark on it...I'm not sure if I'm describing it right because I played it again and it still played fine. I was wondering if this has to do with my turntable?? The record was brand new and did not have that mark before. It happened to the side that was playing. I played two more records after that and one was unaffected while the other had the same thing happen to it. Just curious if anyone has any info on that because now I'm scared to put another record on.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean: Did it sound like there was a scratch or was there an actual, visible scratch on the record?

There was a visible "mark" (I couldn't tell if it was a scratch or a scuff or something) but when I played it there was no indication of there being one. Maybe I'm just losing my mind because I played a few records last night and nothing happened to them haha. Guess I was paranoid or something.

Don't get too paranoid over your nice records mate Just play and enjoy, scratches are usually caused by "careless" handling by the owner, not by the turntable.

Agreed. I think the Sheath should stop all that vinyl nonsense with fancy colours etc. Just release plain cd's from now on and save us all the trouble.

I have a new turtable. Recently I was using Pro-Ject Xpression but few days ago I bought used Technics SL-2000. And wow.... this is really good turntable. It costed four times less than new ProJect but it plays better. Music is more dynamic, stronger. Bass is very precise. I will have to make some small upgrade (better stylus, connections, etc.) and it will be beast
