Ready for next round? :D

Here is a report from what changed in my hifi life during last 6 months.

Recently I upgraded my old Project Xpression turntable. I made it a lot heavier with a stone table screwed tightly with original turntable. Also, I replaced 8,5 inch Project carbon tonearm with 9" Jelco 750D oil dampened tonearm. Of course it required drilling of new hole for tonearm base. Third improvement is better cartridge - in this case Goldring Elite MC. Fourth - new platter, "sandwich" version (aluminium/vinyl)

Cartridge is MC with low input level, so I had to invest in new preamp. After a few days of research I choosed E.A.R. 834 P tube preamp.

And if I already had tube preamp, last step was tube amp :]

Now - sound improvement. After few weeks I can say that there is positive difference between my old setup. First of all, sound is even clearer. Also bass lines are more tight - you rather feel base than here it. New tube amp has low power (20W) but it give more voltage to speakers and it is also hearable. Music has more expression, more life.

Now there is a problem... Which turntable choose? :D Both play very well, tough choice.

A new turntable was going to be one of my first gifts to myself, with a proper pre-amp and tube amp, or at least a nice vintage stereo receiver with phono pre-amp built in.

But I'd also need a set of floor speakers to go with them too.

I don't want my USB turntable anymore :(

Some great skills on display there! Question, with the direct drive deck is the middle part of the turntable sprung independently of the main chassis to avoid acoustic feedback?
Job well done :D
