Hey dudes! Here's the list for Week 3 consideration :D

For those of you checking out the Demo Drawer for the first time, here's an explanation of what this is all about:

Quote:
Hey guys, week after week we have a lot of potentially badass bands sending us potentially mind-blowing demos, but we simply cannot listen to everything we receive. So we thought it would be cool if you guys helped us out a little bit and checked these bands out for us. Then let us know what you think of them and which ones we should definitely give a solid listen to. Why? Well, your taste in music is obviously the best in the world, and again, we are inundated with these and can't possibly sift through them on our own!

So we'll do this weekly or bi-weekly, and you guys can rate them all on a scale of 1 to 5 or whatever, and leave some comments about why you scored it the way you did. You can also vote up your favorite in the poll.

Here's a few that we've got to check out this week...

Julie's Haircut:

Human Pyramids:
http://humanpyramids.bandcamp.com

[P.U.T.]:
http://putmusic.bandcamp.com

Saisa:
http://soundcloud.com/saisa_music

Counterfeit i:
http://www.counterfeiti.bandcamp.com

A Light Within:
http://alightwithin.bandcamp.com/

So listen to 'em, make a post below, rate and review each act, and then vote for your favorite in the poll. If nothing else, maybe we'll be exposing these guys to potential new fans that can help spread the word about their music.

Before I have a listen to any of these, I've got a big two thumbs-up for Julie's Haircut. Their album 'Our Secret Ceremony' is fantastic.

Julie's Haircut - 1.5
i like the vocals and it was fairly decent once the other instruments kicked in, but it's all a bit too electronic for me.

Human Pyramids - 1
too. too. too. too. too. too. fucking. fucking. fucking. fucking. fucking. repetitive.repetitive.repetitive.repetitive.repetitive.

[P.U.T.] - 1.5
the industrial thing isn't really my bag. that said, i've heard some industrial that i really liked. this isn't it.

Saisa - 3.0 for the songs with no vocals (1.5 for the songs with vocals)
i could really get into these guys if they were to stay all instrumental. i was really enjoying "things buried" until those wretched vocals appeared.

Counterfeit i - 1
i'm all for varying influences and music styles, but when they don't mesh, they don't mesh.

A Light Within - 3.5
i like. the vocals aren't the best, but they definitely grew on me over the course of the song. i like the effects that added to the vocals to get them to blend into the song. i'd certainly be interested in hearing more from these guys.

I don't like 'grading' bands, since it's often a matter of taste. I just picked the 2 bands I liked most and wrote a few words about them:

Saisa are okay in a way. Not the new big thing, but quite alright. Largely instrumental post-rock. Contrary to Sheath Compadre Wizzi I totally dig the vocals on Things Buried, although I can so understand why others don't. I sort of have this "special voices" fetish.

When having to pick a favorite, this would be A Light Within. Atmospherically, this song reminded me of older Autumnblaze more than once. Not sure if I'd like to hear a full album with these kind of tracks, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what other material they come up with.
